Although there are many types and shapes of ink cartridges, the basic principle is the same: the ink droplet is somehow given a certain amount of energy to be sprayed at a predetermined position on the paper. The energy-giving device is called an energy generator, and it is installed inside the cartridge.

There is a difference between the split type and the conjoined type, but when the split ink tank and the nozzle are combined, their components are basically the same: they are generally composed of four parts: the ink tank, the hydraulic balancer, the energy generator, and the ink drop channel (nozzle).

The function of the hydraulic balancer is to generate a certain negative pressure for the ink in the ink chamber, so that the ink can not only soak into the outlet of the ink drop channel, but will not flow out on its own. The general ink tank is also designed as a hydraulic balancer. For example, the ink compartment of the HP45# ink cartridge is a naan with tension, which has the effect of balancing the ink pressure. Some cartridges rely on a sponge for the same purpose.

Energy generator, it is divided into two types: hot spray type and piezoelectric type, hot spray type is to heat the ink to boil, and then burst the bubble to produce the jet velocity. Piezoelectric is a piezoelectric type that relies on the potential difference to move tiny ink droplets onto the paper. Such as Epson series printers.

Ink drop pipe (nozzle), ink spray must be guided by a certain pipe to reach the predetermined position, which is the role of ink drop pipe. Another function of it is to control the size of the ink droplets. If you want to say the most valuable and high-tech part of the ink cartridge, it is the ink drop pipe. Because the smaller the aperture requirement of the ink drop pipe, the better, the smaller the aperture, the finer the ink particles sprayed out, and the higher the definition of the printed photo. The aperture is generally only a fraction of the size of a human hair, and today’s printers can spray ink droplets as small as 2 ppl, which has exceeded the limit of human eye resolution.
